Song & Dance performers robbed of gear

“It is very sad, it cost us 5000 Rand, but we’re not giving up”, says Mbelizethu Shezi. Thieves invaded the tourbus of her group Thabisong Song & Dance. The perpetrators stole two lead-guitars, hi-hats and some clothes that were still in the bus.

“It all happened on the 5th of July next to one of the houses we rented”, Shezi told CueBlog. “Of course we’re not happy about it, but we’re not going to cancel our show. We are improvising to continue.” The group now sleeps in the bus, afraid they will be target of robbery again.

After Thabisong Song & Dance gave a declaration to the police there doesn’t seem to be progress. “On July 6th one suspect was arrested, but the last days have been quiet. The police are not calling us anymore.” She has little hope for success.

The police can’t explain why this happened. “There are a lot policemen in Grahamstown right now.”
