Lunchtime #7: Cafe Blanca
Today its time for CueBlog director Peter and editor Elvira to be released from the newsroom and get lunch. We decided to pay a visit to Cafe Blanca. The cafe is easy to find, its just around the corner of High Street, in the gardens of Maxwells.
Peter enjoyed a ‘meaty sub’ and Elvira an ‘aubergine bake’ at Cafe Blanca.
Let’s eat!
The meaty sub cost R32 and was basically a roll filled with green salad, chicken, ham and salami plus some cheese on top. The roll was a bit artifical and sponzy; a fresh crispy roll would have honored the fillings. The aubergine bake for R30 was better; aubergine and other vegetables baked with a cheddar and yoghurt topping.
The garden is key in this place. It is quiet while it is so close to busy Fest and you can enjoy a quick bite in the sun for an interesting price.
