Village Green goes wireless

For the first time ever in Fest history, the Village Green goes wireless. Never before have Internet users been able to enjoy going online at any time and at so many different places in G’town. Be it at your favourite restaurant, bar or even at the Village Green.Skyrove is a wireless internet service that is fast taking the online world by storm and has now hit town. Founded in 2005, it has proved to be really popular domestically with over 400 hotspots nationwide.
How it works? “Think prepaid phone lines” says company CEO, Henk Kleynhans. “only paying for what you use, when you want to use it”.
Earn money
With students as their primary target, it was only natural that they pay a visit to the Fest and familiarise the learners, who in massive numbers frequent the Fest, with the service and the opportunity that comes with it. There are eight local student houses already utilizing their service.

Kleynhans explains that “You can either buy credits and use a hotspot.
Or you can start a hotspot yourself and other people would buy credits and use it, and you’ll earn some money.”

Their main vision as Henk puts it “…is to enable anyone to earn money by starting and managing their own Skyrove hot spots”.

Budding “Skyrovers” can go online, register with the company and order their very own Skyrouter, connect to Broadband (or any other compatible service provider) and from then on you have successfully set up your personal “hot spot”.

Other major hot spots in Grahamstown are Old Gaol Backpackers, Pepper Grove Mall, Graham Hotel, Village Green, Scott Spot, Debonair’s, Nando’s and Spur.  For further info visit www.skyrove.com/meetjoey.html
