SABC news head Snuki Zikalala has urged African journalists to cover more success stories on the continent. He was speaking at the Highway Africa journalism awards ceremony in Grahamstown. He says, “For too long, this story has been tacked to the end of news bulletins and has focused exclusively on the famine, war, hunger and economic melt down”. However, he’s stressed that SABC News International – the newly launched 24-hours channel will not ignore such stories but will also tell “the story of the people of the continent and their successes, aspirations and strength”.
