Ramon Thomas of SA/NETucation has given tips on monetising blogs and how to maximise the opportunities given to bloggers. “You need to be persisitant to always be willing to find out more and always be willing to learn more about the world around you,” he said. Speaking at the Digital Citizen Indaba held at Rhodes University’s Barrat Complex, Thomas gave the following tips to bloggers: 5 steps to making money on your blog

• Choosing a topic/finding your niche - who are the top bloggers and what topics do they tackle
• Read books on that particular topic you are interested in
• Interview the experts/people
• Participate in online discusssions
• Write articles not blogs.
